Hello, my name is Zakiya, I am a wife and mother of 3 children. It's important to me that we celebrate important milestones in the lives of our children. As my kids approached their 13th birthday I noticed their friends were planning big celebrations like Bar Mitzvahs, Bat Mitzvah, and Quinceanera. I began looking for programs that would provide a similar foundation for African American children and sadly I was unsuccessful in my search. As a result, I decided to create a program of my own to give my kids the recognition and exposure to acknowledge their transition. As I started planning my daughter's coming of age celebration, I thought others may be interested in the same experience for their child. That is when Udada Legacy was created.
As parents, we are given the important role to develop our children, train them up in the way they should go. To leave a legacy isn't just financial wealth but it is also shown in the time spent and deeds performed. My goal is to build up in my children, and every child that goes through my program, a sense of pride in who they are as African American girls through a sisterly bond in understanding their cultural heritage, physical changes, and more.
This is a process and investment that includes mother and daughter!
